*takes whiteout* *uses this cause it looks all typewritery and whatnot* I found the .exe file that the virus is and deleted that, so hopefully that and the windows update patch works.
And I broke down and downloaded all the other updates. Oi. Hence why I'm still up.

Holy crap. What the hell is going on. Daisy, do you have power? Even some neighboring cities here don't have power. (Brain: hey, maybe you should shut down the computer afore it shuts down for you. Nah, online is good too. ) big giant mofo cascading power outage Anyone who thinks I'm crazy and doesn't know what I'm talking about: " Major power failure across NortheastMillions without electricity as rush hour begins in East. Aug. 14 — An enormous power blackout cascaded throughout the Northeast, the Midwest and eastern Canada late Thursday afternoon, knocking out electricity to millions of people in New York, Toronto, Detroit, Buffalo, Cleveland and elsewhere. [...] The blackout stretched over huge areas of the Northeast, the Midwest and Canada. Affected cities included New York, Buffalo, Albany and Syracuse, N.Y.; Hartford, Conn.; Detroit, Lansing and many other smaller cities in Michigan; Cleveland, Akron and Toledo, Ohio; and Toronto and Ottawa in Ontario. Much of New England, however, including all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, southern Vermont and eastern Connecticut, were unaffected, as were other areas of Canada, including Montreal and Quebec City. Washington D.C. was also not impacted. The Federal Aviation Administration shut down Newark, John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia in the New York area. Otherwise, however, it said its facilities were operating normally on backup power and that planes in the air were in no danger. FAA officials told NBC News that individual airport terminals could be affected, however, and Detroit Metropolitan Airport was temporarily closed."

I just got power back...in fact it woke me up...
I was in the process of moving some of the smilies to a different server (hence the red x's).....
I thought it was just me at first and then I turned on the radio...it was weird because parts of syracuse did have power.
I guess they are saying it's going to be several days before some places come back on line.

Woohoo vacation! Have fun! So, question for all: There's this Todd Oldham lamp at Target that I want to get for my dorm room, right? Problem is, there's like an anti-alcohol policy (dry campus, nothing promoting alcohol in the dorm rooms, etc. I'm not sure what the actual terms of the policy are, but anyway), and the lamp is a martini glass with an olive in it. (I've been trying to find a picture on the target website, but i'm SOL) I asked my RA from last year if we could have martini glasses themselves in the rooms, and she said that was probably okay, as long as there weren't like...martinis IN them or anything. SO, think the lamp violates the anti-alcohol policy? If we can have martini glasses in the rooms, can we have lamps shaped like martini glasses? I mean, it's not like having a big neon sign that says "DRINK BEER" or anything, is it? Bah, stupid college and their stupid rules. The lamp is on clearance, so maybe I'll just get it and find out. ;D

Here's a tip....do not spill hot coffee on a sunburned leg. Yes, me in all my wisdom went out on a boat for two hours without even thinking that sun and sun reflected off the water would have any effect on my paper white skin. So this morning I am walking like Ah-nold...sans the muscles...and I managed to spill coffee on myself...YAY ME

hhmmm...I got an extra $50...I wonder should I spend it on something nice for me, or use it toward my mounting debt?
