Story HereThis has been in the news quite a bit, stirring up some contraversy. After the decision was announced a number of bishops walked out. My personal opinion: Congrats to Rev. V. Gene Robinson !!!! His parishoners voted for him because he was the best candidate. It is a shame, however, that some people's closed mindedness and homophobia may lead to further problems for him. He has already been falsely accused of inappropriate behavior all in an effort to keep him from becoming bishop.

well, i think it's a bit more in depth than simply homophobia...many believe that homosexuality is against what the bible teaches. if he is openly sinning (according to them) and isn't willing to confess this sin, he wouldn't be the best role model.
that being said, i say more power to him. open mindedness isn't very common amoung the conservative faction of religious folk....catholic or protestant...or the conservative non-religious folk either...it could do some good.

I know what you are saying...but it seems that these types of beliefs lead to more hateful acts. My concern is that he is going to become a target for these factions...

i agree with that...it's a definate possibility and i certainly hope that people are open minded enough to not put the whole issue on this one person...
sometimes i wonder why people can't step back and put themselves in the other person's shoes...it'd do them a whole lot of good...
